In recent years, the Dominican Republic has grown in popularity with overseas visitors and you can see why. The cultural heritage and fascinating history makes it a must see location for many. There are many holiday hot spots spread across the island.
Two main things are manufactured here, and you can see them both being made if you take a trip to the cigar factory or distillery. If golf is your game, you are also well catered for. The areas of forest are very exciting to explore and it is a shoppers paradise with the price of its goods.
The Dominican Republic is home to one of the best known and popular resorts across the Globe. Punta Cana is situated on the Eastern side of the Island.
The vast expanses of golden sands and luxurious yet affordable hotels are just two of the many things that make Punta Cana so appealing. You are literally spoilt for choice here if you like to go all inclusive on your vacations.
Another main destination is Puerto Plata, in the north of the Dominican Republic. This also has numerous resorts offering all inclusive vacations, and if you are a water sports enthusiast, the Playa Dorada beach is for you.
Although the choice of resorts where you can stay all inclusive is more limited than in other places, La Romana is nevertheless very popular. There is a fascinating museum there full of articles from the past and also the highly enjoyable boat trip to Catalina Island.
The capital of the Dominican Republic is Santo Domingo, a very historical city which numerous sites of historical interest and also home to the world’s oldest Cathedral. There is a very good choice of resorts offering all inclusive too.
