July 28th, 2010 at 8:38

People can usually count on their one hand which toys they had lots of fun with as children. For many it will have been a scooter. Lots of people spent hours of their childhood dodging holes in the ground and getting their cuts and bruises tended to by their mother. Micros Scooters are now bringing those experiences to a whole new generation of daredevils all over the world.

Thankfully for today’s generation, there was a man named Wim Ouboter from Switzerland that redesigned and re-invented the scooter. Back in the Latter part f the nineties he came up with the design that quickly spread across Europe and made its way to the United States as the ‘Razor’.

It’s not only the kids that have been taking advantage of this scooter revival but adults have also been treated to their own version. Of course, the adult model is a lot sturdier and robust the ones intended for the younger enthusiast. One thing that perhaps wasn’t around ‘back in the day’ is the protective gear. You can now purchase head, knee and elbow pads to lessen the impact of any little crash.

There are helmets, knee and elbow pads that surely prevent a huge number accidents becoming more serious than they need to be. These safety accessories are a good precaution but overall, these scooters are a relatively safe product. The danger comes when the limits of the products capability is tested which is always going to happen.

You only have to look online for a video of people performing amazing stunts with scooters in the X-Games to realize the limits of scooters. Many a daredevil has had their mettle tested by these two wheeled speed machines. The reason they are so easy to ride and perform stunts with is because of their lightweight design.

There are countless other reasons why they have become so popular with the public but one of the most obvious ones is its awards. It won the gold award for best overall toy 2009 in the ‘Right Start’ best toys awards. Also in 2009 it was awarded the silver prize in the Good Toy Guide for the Good Toy Awards that year. The magazine rated it this way because of its help in improving hand to eye coordination, fine motor skills and gross motor skills.

Many celebrities have been photographed with their children that when they are playing on these scooters. That could possibly have sparked more of an interest in them and would normally boost sales. That as well articles in places like The Brand magazine stating such things as ‘Fitness by Christmas’. In fact, this scooter has made it on the cover of more magazines in the last few years than your average catwalk model.

What is blatantly obvious is that the micros scooters are a must have for any child and while you’re at it, you might think about getting your own. Just make sure you practice before the kids see you on it as you don’t want them showing you up. After all, you were scooting long before they were even thought of.
