How to Keep Your Fridge Orderly and Clean

It is also important to keep your refrigerator clean and sanitary. Here are some quick and easy tips that can help you keep your fridge clean and orderly.

Get rid of the clutter. The night prior to trash collection is a great time to check the fridge for rotten or molding food. Get rid of expired leftovers every week to keep the fridge spacious and cool.

After clearing away items that need to be discarded, wipe down the areas on the shelves and doors were the old food items once stood. Don’t forget to wash out empty plastic or glass containers and recycle the ones that you will not reuse.

Use a cleaner that kills germs to wipe spots and stains that appear on the shelves right away. You should also wipe the bottoms of bottles, jar or other containers before putting them away to avoid the spread of germs into your fridge.

The sooner you seal and store food that is left over from a meal or a snack, the better. This will limit the opportunity for bacteria to grow and spread onto your food. Using airtight containers will help prevent oxygen from encouraging the growth of germs as well.

Divide you refrigerated items by food group. For example, keep your cheese in a different drawer than your fruit, and put your meat in a different area than your vegetables.

Pack groups of little items in small plastic bins for quick and easy access. That way you will know exactly where to look when you are cooking a quick dinner.

Condiments, jams, soft drinks and dressing can be stored on the shelves of the refrigerator door. Since this area does not get as cold as the bottom shelf or the bottom of the fridge, it is better to place items that do not spoil as easily on the door. Put things that spoil more readily in the cooler areas of the fridge to preserve them.

If you have the space, consider using a spare refrigerator. With the additional room, you can stock up on drinks for parties or just to make space in your main fridge for food items. You can keep unopened drinks cold and quickly replace emptied bottles in the main fridge, and have plenty of extra beverages available for when company arrives.

Declutter fast – It sounds simple, right? Just get your house decluttered, quickly. Go ahead, walk around your house, open your closet, get in your desk, and just put stuff back where it belongs! That is all there is to it!

If only it were that simple! Being able to declutter fast, whether you are trying to declutter your home, declutter your office or declutter your closet, is more complicated than it sounds. Sure, you can go though and find a new spot for all the clutter, but unless it is in a logical organized method, all you are doing is rearranging the clutter.

Another thing to consider is how much stress clutter can cause. A cluttered room can cause stress simply when you walk into it. You may be able to relate to that. But also, think about all the energy you waste when you’re searching for things in a messy room or house. You can probably think of instances when you were in hurry and that receipt or set of keys that you so desperately need just cannot be found. That for sure is causing unneeded stress in your life!

Well, enough about the effects of clutter in your home. It’s time to start getting a handle on your clutter situation. Here’s a simple, yet effective way to begin decluttering your home. You can have your entire home reclaimed from clutter within a day, or if you don’t feel like pushing it too hard, you can space this technique out over a couple days.

I’ve used this method to get my rooms back into shape quickly, it is called the 4-pass method. The first thing you do is choose a room to work on, or choose just a part of a room. Now, the first pass is for deciding what objects should be tossed in the trash or donated to charity. Once you decide an object no longer belongs in your home, get it into storage or to the donation center as soon as possible. On your second pass of this method, you must choose whether the objects should stay in your living space or be boxed up into storage. Don’t hesitate to put things in storage, once you decide it doesn’t belong in the room, get it boxed up and stored quickly.

The third pass of the 4-pass method has to do with getting all the objects in their proper locations. You need to go through the room and decide if the objects should stay put in that room, or if they belong in another section of your home. Once you’ve decided on all the items in the room, bag them up and get them put away in the rooms they belong. The final pass of this technique has to with organization. You need to organize all the “livable” objects you left in the room. Once you have them all where you want them, take a step back and admire your handiwork! On your desk place to trays one for outgoing mail and the other for bills you need to pay. You should also have drawer dividers to keep office supplies in place and separate as well. These items are just taking up space that new clothes could be put in. If you never wear certain clothes then do not hang on to them get rid of them give them to your local thrift store for charity.

Take pictures of all of your shoes and then print off on sticker paper. Place these on small clear bins and place the correct shoes in each then neatly stack in the floor of your closet or in the top shelf of the closet for easy finding.

Remember if you never get rid of things then when new things come into your home it is getting cluttered and you have no room for anything to go and actually be enjoyed. Throw out older items that are broken, not used anymore or that you just don’t want. This way your true cherished items can come out of hiding and be seen by all.

Shoes should either be kept in rolling bins underneath the bed or on over the door shoe holders. This gives you an easy way to find and put up your shoes. They should also be a plastic bin at the entrance where you can take off dirty shoes before entering into the house.

Children’s toys should also be kept in toy bins and they should be taught that when they are through playing with items they should put them back in the bins they belong in.
